Stimson Hospital, also known as the Harriet Chapman Hospital, is a Victorian-style home with three stories and nearly 5,000 feet to explore.  The hospital was a 20-bed unit and during her 40-years of services, she saw more than 3,000 babies born and saw more "critical injuries" than any other type.

  • 1877--Property was built as a private home by John T. Sweezey
  • 1917--Dr. Charles Stimson, Dr. Francis R. Blanchard, Dr. William Claudius, along with Bernice Bowman, purchased the home
  • 1918--Opened the doors of the hospital
  • 1919--Dr. Blanchard fell 12-feet to his death when he came out of surgery and walked into the empty elevator shaft, not realizing the car wasn't there
  • 1922--Dr. Puffenberger committed suicide
