Join us as we investigate and spend the night at Indiana's newest haunted location--101 the Para Cafe in Winchester, Indiana. Don't forget to bring you nightlight and blankey!!!
The Hirsch building, built in 1858 by Adam Hirsch, isn't new to hauntings and tragedy. There have been multiple murders, suicides, fires, and illegal activity throughout the history of the building.
At one time, the building was used as a brothel and speakeasy. During another time period, the local police used the "cells" as part of the jail, they were really underground pits that housed criminals, who were treated inhumanely and tortured.
In the late 1800's, there was a woman named Ms. Carrie that lived on the second floor. She was abused by a man named Arney and after years of being abused, she shot and killed him at the top the stairs--they say his ghost still roams here. There are also stories of a man who died of dysentery and wasn't found for weeks. At one time, a diner owner killed himself in the kitchen over finances and says to haunt the kitchen area of the building.
Lastly, one of the most well documented deaths at the building is of Police Chief Try "Zeke" Clevenger, he was just 28-years old when he was killed. Two escapees were driving through Winchester, when he found the car, he opened the passenger's door and was shot in the stomach. He fired back and killed Lawrence Schnek, he died on the spot. Chief Clevenger died on the way to the hospital.
Just last week, the owner, Rowana, found out that there was a fire on the third floor--the joists show signs of being burned.
We will be able to spend the night here, and I'm not joking when I say to bring your cot, air mattress, pillows, blankets, etc. We will have the building from 7pm Saturday night till 10am Sunday morning. The cost is $50 per person and is for 18 years of age and older.
